Shares are common repositories of files and folders that can be accessed by more than one user. Managing NTFS shares is important to ensure they are secure from unauthorized access. ADManager Plus helps administrators in the management of their shares by providing detailed share and access permissions reports on all the shares present in their server. These share reports help administrators clearly view the access permissions on their Windows folder shares.
In the same way, monitoring the access permissions of accounts is very important to maintain security. As the number of accounts in Active Directory increases, it becomes difficult for an administrator to monitor the access permissions of every account. It is important to do this on a routine basis, as there is no margin for error. ADManager Plus' Folders accessible by Accounts report is very useful to know the access permissions of accounts. With this NTFS file system permissions report, an administrator can very easily view and analyze the folders that can be accessed by accounts and make appropriate changes to their access permissions.
ADManager Plus offers these GUI-based reports to eliminate the need to struggle with complicated options like PowerShell scripts to query Active Directory. The reports can also be exported to XLS, CSV, PDF, HTML, and CSVDE formats.
This report lists the shares and their respective permissions, which is helpful to administrators in ensuring that only the desired folders are shared. It gets both share- and folder-level permissions for shares. It provides great insight on a specified account's level of access to the shares. With this information, administrators can secure important files.
This NTFS report lists folders that Active Directory users and groups have access to in a specified path. This report can easily be filtered based on the level of access permissions like full control or any control. Permissions for each folder can be listed and the group or user, if any, through which the folder can be accessed by the selected accounts. In a nutshell, administrators can find out if a user has access rights for a folder, and, if so, what type of access (direct or through a group) the user has.
This report generates the list of all files and folders that have been restricted to inherit permissions from their respective parent objects.
In addition to the tool's reporting capabilities with respect to NTFS and shares, you can also perform a variety of AD file permissions management actions.
