Scope of Management or SoM refers to all the endpoints that can be managed by Endpoint Central. After successful installation of Endpoint Central, the scope of management must be defined. All the endpoints that are connected to an active directory or workgroup can be managed either directly in LAN or remotely. You can configure the SoM settings to ensure that the agent/distribution server has been installed in endpoints that need to be managed by Endpoint Central.
To configure the SoM settings,
This feature allows administrators to configure automatic retries for installing the Distribution Server or Agent in case of failure. Users can define retry intervals and receive notifications.
Specify how often the retry should occur using the hours field.
Example: Enter "2" to retry every 2 hours.
Set the number of days the retry process should continue.
Example: Enter "2" to attempt retries for 2 days.
Enter one or more email addresses to receive alerts about retry attempts.
Device friendly name is used to differentiate devices with the same name in a network. It can be customized based on Device Name, Physical MAC Address, Domain Name, IP Address, Remote Office, OS Name, Serial Number, Recently Logged on User, Device Model.
To configure Approval Settings, navigate to Agent > SoM Settings > Approval Settings. If you want to approve devices, select "Enable device(s) for approval after agent installation" and click Save. To know more about approval settings, click here.
MDM (Mobile Device Management) Enrollment Settings in Endpoint Central enables automatic deployment of MDM profiles to devices after the agent installation. This ensures seamless onboarding for centralized management and security.
Enable MDM profile installation for both Windows and Mac devices.
Note: Devices will be enrolled automatically only on fulfilling the MDM pre-requisites.
